Windows Petit Lot Violette 2021
Windows Petit Lot Violette 2021
Chris@Windows: 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 12% Malbec, 6% Petit Verdot. The dry farmed vines were planted in 1999 on a small ridge with the soil comprising of gravelly loam adjacent to our oldest Cabernet vines.
Tasting Notes
Lifted bouquet of dark berries and leaves a rich and lingering flavour on the palate with a beautiful texture from the Cabernet’s tannin profile. A refined and elegant wine this wine is drinking beautifully now, but will also reward cellaring for 10+ years.
Plaudits
An enticing dark garnet hue moving onto wonderful aromas of violets, warm earth and tar, cassis and just-ripe mulberries, a sprinkling of fresh herbs plus loads of spices and some ironstone, too. Showing off a vibrancy of youth, so it’s rather gorgeous now but will garner more complexity with time. James Halliday 96 Points.

About Winery
A boutique gem. When 19-year-old Chris Davies planted the vines here, he had a vision: single vineyard, minimal intervention, everything done by hand, everything done right.
Quality shines through in every aspect – from the fruit (which is all hand-picked and basked pressed) to the labels (which are individually numbered) to the wines (which are perfectly balanced and of exceptional quality).
James Halliday.
Chris Davies planted the dry-farmed Windows Estate vineyard in ’96, at the tender age of 19. A trained viticulturist, he has tended the vines ever since, gaining organic certification in ’19. As vigneron, he has had considerable show success for consistently outstanding wines.
