Mike@Singlefile: Frankland River is arguably the premier shiraz growing subregion of Western Australia and is recognised for its distinctive black fruit and black pepper characters. Shiraz from the Riversdale vineyard, planted in 1997 and one of the few north-facing sites, delivers the quintessential characteristics expected of fine Frankland River shiraz fruit.

Tasting Notes

The 2024 growing season offered warmer than usual temperatures. The warmer conditions have resulted in a slightly richer styled shiraz, with a good tannin profile, well-developed varietal flavour and intense colour. A bouquet of black pepper and cinnamon followed by blackberry and dark chocolate. Silky tannins and long finish.

Plaudits

The 2023 came out on top of 700 wines submitted from around Australia for my annual Top 100 red wines selling for less than $40. Ray Jordan.

Forget the Barossa or McLaren Vale, the Frankland River is the true unheralded Shiraz king. This magnificent soil and site, combined with Patrick’s winemaking skills, is a match made in heaven.

About Winery

The cool kid of the Great Southern Region. I recently visited Singapore and all friends living there asked me if I could bring some Singlefile wine. (As Singapore had run out). Starting to gain plaudits nationally and internationally for its quality and price.

James Halliday.
This Great Southern (Western Australia) winery, has received significant recognition from James Halliday in his Australian Wine Companion, including being named a "Dark Horse Winery of the Year" in 2023.
Several Singlefile wines have also been included in Halliday's Top 100 lists and have been awarded high scores, particularly for their value for money. In recent years, Singlefile has also been recognized for its cellar door experience.
