Mr Barval Vino Rosso 2023
Mr Barval Vino Rosso 2023
Rob@Mr Barval: A unique blend of aromatic Petit Verdot, rich old vine Merlot and luscious, mouth filling Malbec, all from the Wilyabrup sub-region. All fruit was hand harvested, and basket pressed. 21 months in new and old French oak to round out the tannins.
Tasting Notes
Wonderful mixes of florals, fruit and spice but with a generous, soft structure and low tannins, this wine was made for enjoyment.
Plaudits
57/24/1% petit verdot/malbec/merlot make up this vibrant red. Given the former two varieties can be powerful and rich, this is anything but. Flavoursome yes, a certain structure, too, but almost light on its feet. Dark fruit, loads of spices, a suppleness throughout, just shy of fuller bodied with mouth-coating if pliable tannins and cleansing acidity. Nice one. James Halliday 95 Points.

I just had it a month ago at a get together. Excellent wine.

About Winery
About Winery
One of my favourites. In Margaret River’s south along Caves Road, not far from the towering Karri Forrest, and only kilometres to the sparkling ocean at Redgate Beach.
Rob Gerahadi honed his skills in Italy and has taken all his knowledge, condensed it into some finely tuned skill, and spun out some small quantity, high quality wine that you will want to get your hands on.
The philosophy here is a little different. It’s not so much about the single-vineyard of the site but accessing the quality fruit (so the chardonnay is from the Karridale region and the cabernet is from the WIlyabrup). You are essentially getting the best fruit to make the best wine from the best wine maker.
Everything about Mr Barval is quality. Their wines are made in small volumes and often sell out. It’s not wine you will see in many (or any) bottle shops.
