LAS Vino Chardonnay Wildberry Springs 2024
LAS Vino Chardonnay Wildberry Springs 2024
Nick@LAS Vino: Hand picked first thing in the morning, chilled overnight, whole bunch pressed and fermented. Providing complexity and depth in the same way different oak barrels are used. A partial natural malolactic fermentation occured during its time in vessel softening the edges of the wine and providing length and depth. Gin Gin clone.
Tasting Notes
Purity is the word that I think everytime I try this wine. Purity and elegance. Pure flavours of Willyabrup chardonnay, peach lemon, lime, green apple, a touch of cream and a hint of flint and struck match. The wine will age gracefully for 10 years if cellared correctly.
Plaudits
Review of 2023: Provides a striking difference from the Barrels of Metricup, as a result of the more typical gravelly loam soils of the vineyard. new. A bracing and linear thread runs deep through the intensity of the palate. Distinctive lemon and cut lime with a peaches and cream texture. Super wine. Ray Jordan. 97 Points.
A warmer vintage yet a cool wine. Plenty of flavour and richness, but not at the expense of acidity, freshness and clarity. Some complexing sulphides add to this, sitting neatly with flavours of dried pears, lemon and lime, yet it's super savoury, spicy and moreish. Sits in the fuller-bodied range without being weighty; a little buttery and creamy.
James Halliday 95 Points.

It’s almost bordering on the mundane for Nic Peterkin to attempt a Chardonnay in Margaret River, but there’s still enough verve, style, and creativity in the variety to put his own stamp on it. The grapes are picked from a immaculate parcel of land in Wilyabrup that, according to Nic, took years of begging before they allowed him to pick.

About Winery
About Winery
Nic Peterkin likes to zig in a wine landscape that zags. With a heritage of grandparents Kevin and Di Cullen (of Cullen fame) and dad Mike Peterkin (Of Pierro) he was probably destined to make wine in Margaret River, but the creativity and risk taking that’s flourished on the canvass needs to be cherished and valued. He does the Margaret River staples (Cab and Chardonnay) extremely well but also brings some alternative varietals to the fore
LAS Vino stands for Love, Art, Science. It’s an apt name for his wine. Everything by hand. Everything boutique. Everything with style.
James Halliday.
Owner Nic Peterkin is the grandson of the late Diana and Kevin Cullen (Cullen Wines) and the son of Mike Peterkin (Pierro). His ambition of making wines that are a little bit different, but also within the bounds of conventional oenological science. He intends to keep the project small.
