Liam@Forest Hill: This Malbec is sourced from a single site at Forest Hill Vineyard, on a slightly south facing slope - dry grown on duplex soil of gravel loam over clay.
Tasting Notes
The wine displays characteristic fruits of the forest aromas, particularly blueberry, with a mix of bright floral spice. The palate is supple and soft with a lovely line of density and an even tannin structure. Drink now and over the next 5+ years.
Plaudits
Review of 2022: A sheer delight. Plummy, choc-cherry scents with faint lavender and violet floral lift. Flavours are similarly set, albeit a little maraschino and sweet spice finds its way in, too. Beautifully poised at medium weight with supple, plush texture, good extension of flavour. Charming stuff right here. 93 Points. James Halliday.

About Winery
Founded in 1965, which makes it the oldest in the Great Southern Region, this small, family-owned winery is ahead of its time in producing quality Pinot and Riesling. They make very small amounts of highly lauded wine here. (You won’t find many, or any, in bottle shops).

This family-owned business is one of the oldest ‘new’ winemaking operations in WA and was the site of the first grape plantings in Great Southern in '65. The Forest Hill brand became well known, aided by the fact that a ’75 Riesling made by Sandalford from Forest Hill grapes won 9 trophies. The quality of the wines made from the oldest vines (dry-grown) on the property is awesome.
