Forest Hill Block 1 Riesling 2024
Forest Hill Block 1 Riesling 2024
Liam@Forest Hill: The 2023 wine is very complex with lots of powerful fruit aromatics of lime juice and yellowfruit.
Tasting Notes
There is classic green tea, stony, sea spray aromas which carry through to the palate. The wine has beautiful texture with power and line, with a salivating and tonic like finish.
Plaudits
A stellar Riesling of intensity, pent up energy, precision and vitality. The palate is brilliant and concentrated with crystalline texture, a piercing, fine boned expression and vigorous youthfulness. Delicious drinking now, but will go long in the cellar, too. James Halliday 96 Points.
It was a very good year; a late season that allowed the fruit to build up easily. The palate is the key. It’s powerful with texture, and talc threads with liberal spices. Very sea-spray like. Ray Jordan 96 Points

About Winery
About Winery
Founded in 1965, which makes it the oldest in the Great Southern Region, this small, family-owned winery is ahead of its time in producing quality Pinot and Riesling. They make very small amounts of highly lauded wine here. (You won’t find many, or any, in bottle shops).
James Halliday.
This family-owned business is one of the oldest ‘new’ winemaking operations in WA and was the site of the first grape plantings in Great Southern in '65. The Forest Hill brand became well known, aided by the fact that a ’75 Riesling made by Sandalford from Forest Hill grapes won 9 trophies. The quality of the wines made from the oldest vines (dry-grown) on the property is awesome.
