Castle Rock Pinot Noir 2024
Castle Rock Pinot Noir 2024
Rob@Castle Rock: The wine that first highlighted the suitability of our site to produce premium cool climate Pinot Noir. All estate fruit. Vine age 10-38 years. Hand and machine harvested. Blend of different treatments including: 7 day cold soak; whole bunch ferment; barrel fermentation. Filled to a mix of new and seasoned French barriques and puncheons, matured for 10 months on medium lees. 26% new oak, 13% whole bunch.
Tasting Notes
Bright, deep ruby in colour. The nose is full of dark cherry, blackcurrant and fig leaf, backed by a subtle spice and char combo. The mouthfeel is seamless. Silky tannins frame a core of dark fruit with a fine acid line weaving through leading into a long, precise finish.
Plaudits
2023 Review: A vivid, fine-boned and tightly wound pinot noir of exceptional length and persistence with vibrant, effusive perfume. Red cherry at the tarter end of the spectrum with twiggy wood notes, some faint eucalyptus, white pepper, mezcal spiciness and a sense of freshness overall. Tannins are lacy, ultra-fine and tighten the wine well. It's delicate, almost blink and you'll miss, but the filigree is all here. James Halliday 95 Points

About Winery
Rob Diletti is an exceptional and experienced wine maker and Castle Rock produces some exquisite cool variety Pinot and Riesling. Their 2021 Diletti Riesling was voted the second best in the country by James Halliday.
James Halliday.
An exceptionally well-located vineyard winery and cellar door on a 55ha property with sweeping vistas of the Porongurup Range, operated by the Diletti family. The 2-level winery, set on a natural slope, maximises gravity flow.
The rieslings have always been elegant and have handsomely repaid time in bottle; the pinot noir is the most consistent performer in the region; the shiraz is a great cool-climate example; and chardonnay has joined a thoroughly impressive quartet, elegance the common link. Rob Diletti’s excellent palate and sensitive winemaking mark Castle Rock as one of the superstars of WA.
