Rob@Castle Rock: Named in honour of the Diletti family who founded Castle Rock Estate, Handpicked estate Pinot Noir fruit. Combination of whole bunch fermentation and semi-carbonic maceration. Ferments were foot stomped throughout fermentation. 10 months barrel maturation on medium lees in seasoned French oak barriques.
Tasting Notes
Bright, ruby. Complex perfume of blackcurrants, wine gum lollies and spicey herbal notes. Elegant and fine. Graphite-like tannin runs the length of the palate framing the bright red berry acidity. The tannin and acid structure create a super long and fine finish that lingers on long after the glass is finished.
Plaudits
This is succulent, fine and frisky pinot noir, sour cherry laced with distinct and fragrant alpine herbs, white pepper, cinnamon notes, some oyster sauce and light gingery elements lending complexity and exotica. It's got lashings of flavour despite its slender frame, a huge drinkability and immediate charm. A sleekness here as well – compact and long. It feels like it will unfurl with cellar maturation beautifully too. Wonderful, if not one of the best pinots to emerge from Western Australia. James Halliday 96 Points.

An exceptionally well-located vineyard winery and cellar door on a 55ha property with sweeping vistas of the Porongurup Range, operated by the Diletti family. The 2-level winery, set on a natural slope, maximises gravity flow.
The rieslings have always been elegant and have handsomely repaid time in bottle; the pinot noir is the most consistent performer in the region; the shiraz is a great cool-climate example; and chardonnay has joined a thoroughly impressive quartet, elegance the common link. Rob Diletti’s excellent palate and sensitive winemaking mark Castle Rock as one of the superstars of WA.
